Sorry, that was slightly off topic but I have been wracking my brains to remember the title of the movie and this thread helped me to recall the name.

Pretty sure. I haven't read the book for quite awhile but don't recall anything about orange weeds in there.

I've never figured out where they got "scarlet" Thank you Daisy! I was starting to think I was color blind.

In the book Sir Percy drew a small red, star-shaped flower when he signed his messages; the flower was the pimpernel, the ink was scarlet (Chapter 7).

Pimpernel flowers can be many colors but perhaps the author chose the color scarlet to signify the red blood that flowed so freely through revolutionary Paris.

Maybe it was Emma Orczy who was color blind.

Edited to add:
I only find that funny because my dad was a painter and wallpaper hanger by trade...and he was most definitely color blind. He could not have done his job without the help of my mother who identified the colors for him.
