I am not seeing the new Southeast Gardening Forum listed in Regional Gardening Forums.

I am sort of like a dog that chases a car and then wonders what to do after he catches one. Looking forward to the new content to be added in this forum.
I have a question and need advice . I could have posted this in the vegetable forum, but I think it is appropriate for here so I elected to post in our new forum. I was gone for 18 days and many of the plants I had started from seed died, so now I am getting off to a new spring start. I just went down to Lowe's and bought three types of tomato seeds, 'Sweetie', 'Fourth of July' , and 'Delicious'. The 'Sweetie' survived surprisingly well, and I will probably have enough of the Fourth of July' for our needs (I normally give away a lot of seedlings), but only a very few of the 'Delicious' survived. I listened to the ATP tomato pod cast and 'Kellogg's Breakfast' was highly recommended.
I would love to here some suggestions of favorite tomato suggestions for this area, mostly interested in a tomato for sandwiches and salads.
I would also love suggestions on any variety of annuals that do exceptionally well in this area and can be grown from seed. Need to fill a few empty spots.

Sweetie should be a red cherry tomato.

Yes it is, the first time I have planted it. Hope it turns out as well as the Early Treat, that I have not been able to find locally the past two years.

First time I will be growing Sweetie. I chose it because of the description that claims it is sweet. I like the sweet cherry types.

Excellent! You will be getting a lovely harvest of sweet cherry tomatoes.

Things encountered in the southeast garden..not mine...my son's in Mebane about 15 minutes west.

And this I spied in front of my door....was not there yesterday....all my fault because I directed that water to run right past the front steps! I have seen 5 foot snakes charge into the water after frogs and right at that spot..and in those rocks baby copperhead peek out to see if the coast is clear...😳

What kind of snake is the green snake?

I saw a snake skin in the yard last week too

It is a grass snake..a smooth grass snake ( as opposed to rough )
Runs like a rabbit ...but if you scare it bad enough will bite. Non venomous

I've seen lots of snakes but never one that color around here.

You have these Vicki..in 16plus years I have seen 2. They hide!! Very non aggressive and a hermit. i was pulling dried winter leaves out of a barberry and picked one up and it lay limp..I think it fainted!

I wish all snakes would faint, instead of me. I've got to get the city girl out of me. I love my flower gardens too much. In the past, I've been known to abandoned my garden if I saw a snake in it. Now, I'm just trying to keep a watchful eye and give them room to move on. . . . out of my yard.
