Does anyone know what this is. It's about a plant root ball found after 9/11 in the debris. According to the article, no one has identified the plant:

I know I have seen this plant somewhere with the little leaves, it's going to drive me nuts! :)

Those tiny little, shiny leaves and growth habit make me want to say it's a Codonanthe or some kind of Nematanthus...blooms would be handy.

I think I found what plant it is, Privet Honeysuckle, Lonicera pileata. They mentioned in the article it had purple berries in the fall. And that the bloom was fragrant. I just didn't know you could grow this as a house plant!!!

Lee Anne: We must think alike because my first thought was Nematanthus (Guppy Plant" Goldfish Plant") too ... but foliage can be deceiving.

Except goldfish plant has orange flowers, this was said to have white flowers and purple berries.

I read it's best to grow it in a hanging basket if you can, because the purple berries are underneath. Is that true?

I've only heard of it growing as a hedge, don't know anyone whose grown it as a houseplant. The berries do appear to be beneath the stem/branches and would be more visible if the plant were hanging.

I'm going to try it, will let you know Found a plant on ebay dirt cheap. I love that place. I'm completely happy with a newly rooted plant, or even cuttings in some cases :)
