I could believe that it wouldn't be necessary in an ideal situation, ie. brushing after each meal, mouthwash rinsing, tongue/gum cleaning, fluoride water, low sugar diet, etc. But we do not live in that world. We live in the sugar filled, rushed for time, I'm not brushing my teeth after lunch at work, type of world.

well I just plain like to work my gums with the stuff, if nothing else. Couldnt live without it.

What convinced me to floss at least semi regularly was the horrid smell when you waited a couple days and then flossed. Yuck! I remember that made a big impression on my teenage mind.

Even I would agree that "they are out of their collective minds." I hate to floss, have always hated to floss... and yet... about a year ago the dentist stuck the probe thing into my gums and said they weren't looking too good, and mentioned the possibility of "deep cleaning." So, finally forced myself to get serious about flossing and using Listerine, and a few months ago had the best checkup I can remember having in a long time. I've been very fortunate to have few problems with my teeth despite the lack of flossing, brush several times a day, etc., but really would like to keep my mouth healthy as long as possible. Flossing seems like a small price to pay for that purpose -- and costs essentially nothing except a few minutes of time.

Flossing sucks! I refuse. I'll buy the dentures when my well-brushed teeth fall away. Dentures are pretty, can't say that for my nurtured over-priced over-rated teeth!

Hate to bring pets into the grumpy thread but I can't bring a dead stray into the pet thread. Lost my favorite kid. I could tell you so much. Pfft. He was a good one. My indoor cats are mourning, it's truly sad. Our daily visitor has passed. A kind, gentle little critter. I keep checking all 4 doors but it's over. Darn it all, I loved this one more than 2 of the indoor kids...

I am sorry you lost your cat, stray or not. There is really only one reason not to floss and its too bad that people shun it. Each to their own.

Wes - so sorry to hear you've lost a furry friend. A stray can still be your friend, and I know you feel the loss keenly.

Wes....I hear you on the cat. I lost Momma kitty in the past month. She was a feral cat that has come to eat for the past 6 years. I think someone in the neighborhood is up to no good, but just never know. The females are much harder to trap, so I know she didnt just wander up to someone and let them catch her. At least she was too big for the hawks.

Wes, so sorry about Buddy... it's hard for me to think of an animal as a stray when there is someone who loves it and cares what happens to it.

Wes, my most heartfelt condolences on the loss of Buddy. I remember you posting photos of him & talking about him. I know you loved him to bits.
Please do not hesitate to post about his passing on the pets thread! The thread is not just for happy pet talk. We understand what happens when you lose a beloved pet & it doesn't matter one whit that he was a stray & outdoor cat!

Well -- while I agree with "flossing sucks," and also that my teeth aren't as pretty as dentures would be (I consider them as having "character" ), I would much prefer to do what I need to do to keep from having even a "deep cleaning," never mind having my teeth pulled and getting dentures... (the less dentist interaction the better, IMO!)

I've been running into nasty people constantly again.

Belong to a gardening group, a woman runs a food stand she gives free fruit vegetables and flowers away for free but gets donations.

She saw all the things I grew and added me on Facebook liking what she saw. I offered to donate tomatos (I had so many extra) and flowers.
We set up a meet date today she told me she was free all day.
I was at the doctor and right after she was meeting at my house. My appointment was running late and I left early to make it home on time at 5pm.
I message the woman and she told me she isn't even home she's at work and won't be out till 6. I said ok let me know. 6 comes by, nothing from her. Now it's 7pm, I messaged her and she said she can't make it I told her swing by tomorrow I'm free, Then she has the nerve to tell me she can't come by she just wants to sit home and said she'll come by next week, but I already told her that I'm busy.

I was upset and told her that I left my appointment early to be home and that she not only lied to me not being here but didn't care to let me know ahead she was busy and not get back to me. So I said I'm sorry if your too busy I will not give you my stuff for wasting my time.

She took me off Facebook immedietly and blocked me. Nobody uses me to get free stuff and lie to me
