However, I have to be nice now because DH is helping me with a big garden project, building a new greenhouse -- I have the plan, and will do plenty of work, but he really does the hard stuff. Since he's a couple of years younger than me I also keep playing that card...

Sandy when we get home from church Sunday mornings, I can have my clothes changed the oven turned on and the radio turned off by the time he has finally gotten out of the car and into the house.

Apparently it's a built-in deficiency on the Y chromosome or something...

I can laugh right along with you ladies, about your DHs, unfortunately, I'm the "lazy" one around here. He beats me getting up most mornings, and he's the one out there building the addition...... I wish I could be out there, but with these stupid knees of mine, I can't be.
He does tell me "don't overdo" and I tell him "oh, but I wanna!! It's my sole purpose in life to overdo and hurt myself, doncha know?"
Seriously, sometimes doing the prescribed exercises will put me "under" for the day. serious pain, so of course I sometimes can't DO, let alone "Over Do"

It's definitely hard when you can't do the things you want to do, Susan.

Then Susan you can laugh with us just think how good you'll be after you get new knees. Of course if you really don't want to do something you'll lose your excuse

I gotta say it, Susan. Just think how awful the pain would be if you didn't do the exercises ? I thought about it for about one second. If I couldn't handle the exercise pain before surgery .. oh..... after surgery ... no, I didn't even want to go there ..

I've heard about people who Don't do the exercises and they suffer afterwards...... even worse when they don't do the exercises Afterwards cuz people end up having the surgery again when the knees don't get strengthened by exercise and they fail - or the areas around the knees can't support the new knees (sounds weird, but it's a fact......)

Susan ... what I was told is that you bleed more during and after surgery. Often times there are more surgical complications. Getting your knees in as best shape as possible before surgery gives you the best possible chance for a good outcome. So, please go for it.

I will certainly do that, Lyn - Thank you for the info. I know that I bruise easily (it's something the women of our family do.........) and I'm off of Warfarin as of last June, but I will take great care to exercise daily.

I mentioned these ideas about knee exercises prior to surgery to DH and he said the doctor didn't mention it so he won't ask It's supposed to be a partial replacement and I have no idea what the recovery time is so I know how many days to take off. He said they'll probably tell him before the surgery but that doesn't help my work schedule at all
