Thank you for the nice welcome. It has been way too long. I wanted to tell @drdawg I just trimmed back the white ginger in the greenhouse. It bloomed for weeks and the entire greenhouse smelled so pretty. I had nothing in there except what was not lost during my recovery. The big plants, bougainvillea ( red, orange, pink and white), mandevilla, jasmine and ginger were outside and brought in before frost. Here is a pic of how the one looked when they were in the GH. It is heartbreaking to think this is all I have left of the GH plants....the happy thought is that I still have a few in the house that I may be able to save and make healthy again.
All have been trimmed now and the last picture looks like they do now. What a difference a day makes. They actually bloomed until just a few days ago when it got very cold in the GH. I left them dry out good and cut them back for the winter. I am sure they will be very happy in the Spring. I keep them on my deck most of the summer. Thanks for letting me share these with you. I truly missed our chats.
Lovey dubby

Look at it on the bright-side, Jacquie. You not only have less to do while you are on the mend but will also have something to occupy your time when you are all-well.............buy new plants.

I bet your greenhouse really did have a wonderful fragrance from that blooming ginger.

@JB, I am usually lurking on the orchid forum, the plumeria forum, and the adenium forum. Those forums have stayed pretty active even during this "slow-time" of the gardening year. Since I occupied the new solarium and am growing so many plants in that space, I have a lot going on. I am growing plants and keeping plants blooming that I had never been able to do before. It is an exciting time for me.

With my upcoming back surgery scheduled on the 19th, I guess I better start teaching my wife how to be a care-giver for my plants. I thought the surgery would be a piece of cake. Now, after talking to the neurosurgeon and watching a video of the fusion-surgery yesterday, it looks like I will be a little more hindered in what I normally do post-op. For some reason I thought the surgery would perhaps be an hour-long procedure (max), but now I am told that it will be more like 3-4 hours.

@drdawg, I wrote you a long post and it just went away. Anyhow, thanks for your post and I will say a prayer for you and your surgery. I can't seem to find the problem with this PC , browser and mouse. I am about to give up the internet for good.

What a happy day.

I'm really happy to see JB post and to hear how she's doing.

I'm especially happy today as both my helpers are here - and helping!! Anita has only been working for me for about two months but she fits right in. She and Tony are good friends. With the help of both of them I am on the mend from pneumonia and have had a thorough checkup by a cardiologist and have been assurred that my heart is great!! I am ten years past the age at which my mother had a non-fatal heart attack and I realized I've kind of been waiting for my turn. Well, it's not looming on the horizon. I still have a morning stitch on my left side, apparently from the pneumonia but by noon I'm able to do some garden work.

I've been moving, stacking and leveling blocks for a keyhole garden. Also moving a lot of dirt. Th four dogs pretty much keep me company whatever I'm doing just inc ase some treats should appear.

Love you all for being here as I am one of the recovering DGers and need my friends, old and new.

Don't do that, Jacquie. Don't y'all have a tech/computer service that can straighten out the problem? My computer has been acting up for many, many months and I am just about ready to ditch it and get a new one. Heck, my computer is over five years old so I guess a change is overdue. Whistling

A temporary "fix" for you might be to ever so often copy what you type, doing so before you lose it, and then paste what you copied to the remainder of what you wanted to post. The copy portion should never go away until you copy something else.

I just spent $550. to have the old Windows removed, reinstalled Windows 7 again because I do not want Windows 10. He installed all the latest updates in everything, he worked his butt off and even Microsoft was on with 2 hours with him and they said they could not fix the problem. They had no idea what to do except remove the the corrupt windows 7 and replace it with a clean windows 7....that is what he did. Now I am hoping the new mouse makes the difference. I must go now.

I have never been a fan of Windows 7. That's what is on this sorry a** computer. I loved XP and never had a moments trouble with that version for 15 years. I can't believe that Windows 10 could be any worse than 7, but what do I know. I am computer-illiterate.

Now I have a new mouse. This could be the problem since I was using a laser mouse with a wire and it was fast and I set the settings slower but it was a problem with my arthritic fingers. We will see how this post goes. My windows 7 is what I got when XP gave up. My technician refuses to even attempt to install Windows 10 for me unless it is the last resort since he said I will be miserable trying to get used to it and I am too old to put me through that. He said it with a smile. I hit him.
Anyhow, I am sticking with Windows 7 until I have no other choice. There were 9 updates on 7 that were not installing on my computer and no matter what Microsoft and my Tech did would it not allow them to upgrade. Microsoft wanted $300 to just look at it. He did not want to pay that when he knew as much as they did. Somehow my Windows 7 just said NO to those and that is when they decided to reinstall the entire system. We backed it up and it took me almost two days to put in and have it accept all of the upgrades necessary for me to work on this machine. I told him to do what he had to and he spent 4 hours here and two days at his office with him hooked into my PC somehow that he could watch it updating as it went on for those two days. He only charged me for 4 hours since we are friends and I insisted. He drove here four times and spent more than four hours here before he decided what they could do. So, with my discount it was
worth it since my computer is only a few years old. He just built it when the JCP&L outage blew up the old one over and above my power surger. Now I have a surge protector for my surge protector plus a rebuilt machine and a new windows 7. You wonder why I want to give up the internet?

Ken ... I am still on XP. I know I have to upgrade, but I really don't want to go to 10.

I don't really know. I have always had Dell, going back over 20 years. I presently have the Vostro 230 and it has an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 4.0 GB RAM, and 456 GB OS. Now, just a plain-Jane computer has twice the speed and storage. When I had my dental practice, I had six computers in the office and one at home. Now we have two computers at home. When my wife replaced her Dell 1 1/2 years ago, she got one that was built by a local computer company. It is also Windows 7, since (I think) that was the latest thing out. She has been pleased with her computer. I lost my XP when Microsoft discontinued support.

My wife was going though her photo albums and getting rid of some pictures so that she could reduce her number of albums (she has thousands of pictures, some going back to the 1930's). Anyway, she came upon one that was titled: "Kenneth's first plants". The picture is dated 1973, which is when we built our first house. So this is when my addiction began. Forgive the photo quality. That picture may have been taken with a Kodak Brownie Camera. Whistling I chuckle at such a meager start, a meager start for a lot of things.

Many addictions start small.

I've been celebrating not having a heart condition by beginning consstruction of a keyhole garden. Moving and leveling and stacking concrete blocks. It will be a little over 6 feet across and about four feet high which will make it easy for me to check seedlings.

I need to move the seed stater pots to over the heat mat as they are not liking this chilly weather. I was working outside today in a tank top and shorts but our nights and early mornings are cold.

Time to feed the furbabies.

I have a Dell Vostro 200 and am still using XP. I don't want to upgrade my software because I am no longer a power user. It doesn't make sense to spend the money.

I don't need a faster computer or more storage. However, as predicted, many of the Internet sites are loading much slower and some no longer support XP. I actually resent having to spend the money to upgrade. I'd much rather spend the money on my garden ... Hilarious!

LOL, same story here... I loved XP, skipped 2000 and Vista, and then had one heck of a time switching over to 7 when I bought a new laptop; that was about 6 years ago. Now I'm okay as far as using Win7, but the updates drive me bonkers... my computer is a laptop and a couple of times the updates just kept going and going and going and never finishing... couldn't shut the computer down, ended up having to take the battery out and then putting it back in after a few minutes. Plus, every time Windows updated the drivers for my (older) HP printer would get screwed up and I couldn't use the scanner until I reinstalled the drivers, etc etc. I recently saw a desktop computer running XP being offered for free and was tempted to get it... no wonder so many people are just using their phones for the internet!

Sandy ....

I don't have a smart phone, cell phone, ipod, etc. I can't get reception for the phones at my house and I really haven't had a need for them up here in the mountains.

I think I am just going to get a computer for the Internet and keep on using my old one for everything else.

Now, if I can only find space on my desk for two computers ... Whistling
