If you only buy from one vendor, you only get bonuses from one vendor. If you spread your money around, you help keep them all in business, and you get more bonuses. Smiling If you can only go with one vendor, find the ones that have most of the ones you want, at the best price.

Well, if you can find what you want to order in any given year from just a few vendors, then you really do save on shipping costs. I don't usually order just one or two iris from a vendor because then the shipping becomes as much as the order.

Most of the time the bonus Iris are well beyond worth the price of the shipping. At least in my case but I have yet to find one vendor that carries everything I want. So I share the love with them all! Rolling on the floor laughing

Hmmm...not a bad idea to consider the bonuses. Dumb question from a newbie: what does it take to get a bonus?

Barbalee, some vendors will send a bonus or several bonuses no matter how much or how little you spend, but others have a specific price that qualifies you for a bonus. Most places seem to be quite generous with giving bonus irises. At Mid-America I placed one order that I got 3 bonuses which I got to pick out, as well as 4 additional bonuses that they picked for me. They were listed on the order so I know what they are already. So I spent $250 and got $235 in bonuses. There is only one vendor I ordered from that said that they don't give any bonuses.

Vendors usually graciously combine orders and you can be refunded the difference in shipping.

Maybe I should inquire about that for my Mid-America orders (I have 3). They have a packing fee for each order in addition to shipping costs.

Each time I have ordered from Sisters Iris they almost gives you one bonus for every Iris ordered. I've been extremely happy with Sisters service too.

That is an idea. In the late summer we can become a travelling band of iris planters. It is more fun to have company in the garden and the job would get done faster in each place! Now I need to find a band of garden builders to come get new beds ready before the planters arrive!!

Barbalee - you won't regret it. They have lovely rhizomes, and give amazing bonuses.
