That is how I would improve drainage, assuming the grade around the bed provides a low spot to trench TO. And assuming you or someone available has the time, energy and upper-body strength to dig into the ground.

Back-filling a trench with perforated pipe plus a LITTLE gravel is MUCH cheaper and less work than filling that trench with 100% gravel. And I can often get away with a slit trench the width of my mattock-blade, back-filled with nothing. Some day I may break an ankle, but until then, I've saved work.

But I'm not good at reading slope or grade from photos. I don't know why, but "slope" just doesn't jump out at me from most photos.
