I've had this small cermaic birdbath for at least 6 years now. Every year I freshen it up with a good cleaning/scraping/sanding and then repaint it and spray it with a sealer. I REALLY would like to change the colors this year. I have really gotten tired of the YELLOW. lol

Any suggestions?

I would probably choose a color to coordinate with the nearby flowers, or if in a shrub or grassy area that is mostly green, with the house color. It could be a warm color or cool, depending.

Regarding your question … I don’t have a birdbath, but if I did I’d probably lean towards bright colors (love yellow and orange). However, according to the “Gardening for Wildlife” website (link below) your birdbath should be of a neutral or earthy tone. They say that bright colors can keep birds from enjoying your offerings and attract predators.

Fun! Ok, I would make the petals a blue, like morning glory blue, merging into a blue/purple in the middle with black stamens (or small dots- hard to tell if there are designated stamen in the middle). The the hummingbird a ruby throated hummingbird to bring in some red pop. Below the flower, make the leaves a brighter green, not too bright, just more so than the current color. The flowers on the trunk could be variation of the purple and blue mixed together for highlights.

I don't have any suggestions other than to agree with the neutral/earthy tones as mentioned by @ArtD...

Thank you all for your suggestions! I have put in in different spots over the years. This year I am going to put it in a small garden at the base of a big old beech tree. Come summer there should be foxgloves blooming in the garden - shades of pink, purple & white. I'll probably edge the garden with pink/white alyssum. Think I'm going to go with similar colors to the flowers. Later in the summer I'll post photos again! Thanks!
