This is one of the seven roses I purchased back in Feb. from Lowe's. It was labeled as Flamingo, now it is blooming and it looks a lot like a Knock Out rose to me.

That doesn't look like this!

Rose (Rosa 'Flamingo')

I read a gardening book from the 1940s, and they were already groaning about the perfidy of nurserymen back then!

In fact, it doesn't even look like the new "more-double" red Knockout (RADtko). It looks like the old single blooms (RADrazz).

I guess if they are going to switch labels, they might as well switch in the cheapest thing they can multiply.

I already have two of the Cherry Red Double Knock Outs, which I like very much, but the singles have never appealed to me.

I agree! The single blooms don;t look like "roses" to me. Maybe "wild roses" or "beach roses".

But I have single KO rose (RADraz) that I made a DEEP bed of good soil for ... why, I don't recall. But now it grows 5 feet every year and would probably be HUGE if I didn't prune it down most years.

As long as I think of it as a "hedge" and not a "rose bush", I like it.

Could it be the rootstock blooming? Shrug!
It's so annoying to a get a mislabeled plant. If you still have the receipt, Lowe's guarantees their plants for a year. Usually that means that it's died, but I would think that it being mislabeled would deserve a refund, too.

Rick, very pretty "hedge" you've got there! Smiling

I don't know of any roses that use Knock Outs a rooting stock for other roses. I'll have to check on the receipt and the warranty at Lowe's . I have seen them replace plants that died due to no fault of the plants but of the purchaser, so they might.
