I have been watching a male and female cardinal building a nest in one of my hanging baskets over the past few weeks, I took these pictures this morning. Looking forward to seeing young ones soon.
How cool is that!! I've seen Wrens and Doves build nests in hanging basket plants before but never a Northern Cardinal. I think incubation and hatching time is about two weeks after eggs are layed .... hope you can keep us posted with more photos of the babies when they arrive!

No babies yet, we stay away from the nest as much as possible and she does watch us as we work and move around in the yard. The nest is about 5 feet above the ground and protected by an overhang from the shed. She will fly away if we get too close so we try not to disturb her.
Oh my ... those are the cutest, bald babies ever! I do hope you will be able to get more photos as they grow, it will be easier once they get to the stage where they are climbing to the edge and peering out to see the world!

Jolana, barge right in! Lurking is rude. Just kidding, lurk all you like, but feel free to say hi and tell us how awesome our pictures are on the best forum on ATP!!
