I wonder how xeric they are.. I have a couple of places I'd love to see covered and maybe I can get this to be the plant to grow?

They won't grow well in full sun even here, Toni, so they might not be the right choice for you. They grow everywhere in my garden, but the Arum in full sun always looks awful (more awful than the rest, I should say).

The places I was thinking was 100% shade.. not even hostas like it there. These areas are on the north side of my house.. one next to the house in a very shady corner, one under my massive lilac that shades everything. Only problem is that both areas are super dry.

If Hostas don't like it, maybe Arum won't either. I don't think I have any spots of dry shade in my garden. Our rainy season is so very, very wet that everything gets watered.

COLORADO SPRINGS (AP) - An early blizzard Tuesday morning at the top of Pikes Peak briefly closed a highway to the summit and left some tourists stranded at the top until the road was plowed.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports that Tuesday morning's squall dusted the top of the famed peak, which sits just above 14,000 feet.

Pikes Peak Highway Ranger Brenda Wilson told the newspaper that the road was promptly plowed, but some tourists had to wait until the road was cleared so they could drive down. Another snow squall hit at about 12:30 p.m.

The ranger said that flakes from Tuesday's blizzard melted, but that snow may stick to the highway and exposed rocky summit overnight.

Yeah, it's getting colder. The high for me tomorrow is 58, but the low is just 43. 50 to 60% chance of rain!!
My roses are established and could handle a light freeze without showing it, but I still have crops I need to harvest.
As the weather cools, it brings out the colors in the leaves of some of the OGRs. I get quite a fall display of vivid hips and deep burgundy foliage on such as the gallicas and some of the albas. Very pretty.

Today was gorgeous.. I don't think it hit above 65. Wonderful! And it piddlepaddled last night.. just a tiny amount of rain, but every few drops help!

Betty - thought about it seriously a few years ago.. but California's too expensive to live. What DH & I make here would probably keep us barely above poverty level there, if that! Plus, I ain't movin'.. nosireebob, not gonna move again! Moving SUCKS!!! LOLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

This will give you an idea of what I'm dealing with here. You can only see the top of Ginger, a rose that's a little over two feet tall. It's already struggling for light and moisture and suffering. If I don't clear that stuff away from it, all of the lower branches are likely to die back, and possibly the whole rose bush if the ground below that stuff stays too dry. A mini-rose could get completely lost in there. Furthermore, this is only the start of the season. The Arum started coming up just last week. A month from now, it'll be taller and much more dense.

*sigh* And I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to have that! The only thing that can rival that as far as what I can grow is my silvermound & my bluebeard.. but both require full sun and I need something for shade. I think my areas are too dry, however.. that looks SOOOO lush! *swoon* Right now it's misting out & is 50degF with a high predicted to be 59. But, that's OK.. I'll take these few days of rain/cool 'cuz it's supposed to shoot back into the 80s next week, which will make sure that all my new roses get one last dose of growth before winter!! At least that's what I keep telling myself...

EDIT ---

From Channel 9 NBC local news:

DENVER - Most mountain areas will have snow tonight, but the heaviest accumulation will stay at the highest elevations, according to the Colorado weather forecast.

Cooler air stopped Denver's high temperature at 60 degrees shortly after midnight Wednesday morning. Clouds and the cool Canadian air held temperatures in the 50s for the rest of the day.

9NEWS Meteorologist Marty Coniglio says the second part of the storm is now rolling through the state bringing rain and snow to many areas.

Total rainfall could easily top an inch in some parts of the metro area with parts of southern Jefferson County and much of Douglas County pushing up close to 2 inches of rain by early Thursday morning.

In the mountains, the rain/snow line will start out at 10,000 feet, but early Thursday morning, snow could be falling as low as 8,000 feet in the Front Range mountains and foothills.

From the Front Range Mountains all the way to the San Juans for elevations above 9,000 feet, 2 to 6 inches of snow is expected from 3 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday.

----

I won't get any snow 'cuz I'm at 6100 ft. But there's Winter Weather warnings for quite a few cities on the Front Range (Boulder/Golden area)

Toni, I'm still hoping some of that moisture makes it out here. It's 59 today, but we're supposed to stay in mid to upper 80s for the next week. Maybe I'll get caught up on overdue gardening tasks.
Zuzu, those arum are beautiful. Our climate is too harsh for anything to be invasive. I know there are official lists of plants-not-to-be-planted, but unless the weather is fully cooperative, nothing grows without some help. Oh, maybe cedar trees, but that's about it.

Cindi - I hope so too. My rainbucket (35gal barrel) is full again (I emptied about 1/2 watering areas that can't get rained on due to overhanging porch), so I'm hoping it gets out your way. But doesn't look like it.. the plains are dry Sad

Yep, elk season is in full swing, which coincides with shoe shopping season and peak of allergy season. Figure that one out! Big Grin And someone at Kohls must have known the cat's away because they sent me a 30% off coupon woohoo!
It was 55 today and yesterday. Hopefully next week will be about perfect, well, perfect in temps but we're still bone dry. If I can get the allergies, bronchitis, etc under control, I'm going to work hard to get the gardening caught up. And finish painting the eaves of the house. We did not have a day under 90 all summer so the painting got put off and now it's my task.
Oh yeah indoor painting, staining, tile work and a few more stained glass windows. Figures! Now that the weather is halfway decent, the remodeling is at the point where I do my part, and I hear the garden calling my name... Whistling Shrug!
