Whew....after weeding, feeding, seeding, hauling, and planting, my back and knees hurt. My yard work has become hard work. I'm going inside and have a tall cold glass of lemonade!

Maybe you should consider an adult beverage.

Ohhhhh! I love LIT's! Only can have one though:)

Seriously though, Pat, I am afraid you will be more sore tomorrow if today was the first day for all that hard yard work. Hope not, but if so, take it easy!

My son bought me one of those garden kneeling pads this past xmas. I wasn't sure I would use it much, I'm normally hurrying along doing what I'm doing and by the time I get all my tools, wheelbarrow, radio, dog, dog bed ( he doesn't like the cold wet ground either)...I don't need one more thing to pack to take out to the garden. Well, I am in love with this thing!!! The ground is still cold and wet....frozen in some spots and my knees have never felt better after crawling around cleaning the beds. I thought it would be a pain to move along with me...ever tried to move something you are kneeling on? But it's not, I just tip my weight back to my toes and move it along. Going to put a link, no I do not have stock in the company, yes I would recommend the Kneelo. http://www.gardeners.com/buy/k...

Have not found anything to help with the aching back...the adult beverage sounds really good though. Smiling

I should have taken something, but I did not. I got my first orders of the season from the Lily Auction and became excited. I took a few days off work to try to get everything done. I have more orders coming next week and I can't wait to do it all over again!

Char, thanks for the tip on the knee pads. Sounds promising and I will take a look at it. Amazon and I are best friends,

Seriously, I want have nearly as much to do next week when the other plants come in. I will sleep good tonight.

I prefer to sit on the ground and move around on my bottom. It is much more comfortable for me. It is also easier to avoiding trampling things (so to speak).

Once I get on my bottom ,on the ground, I could be there for a good long time Whistling I move a little stool along as I work, not much easier to get up, but at least I have a fighting chance. nodding

Pam, I love your stool idea. Gonna look for one of those, and make things a little easier.
Char, my pad is a make shift one, but it works, and I agree, they're great. Also keeps me from
kneeling down on centipedes and other critters.

Yes, gardening IS hard work much of the time, other times it is a time for contemplation and
serenity, and we don't always notice the aching muscles until we stand up or go inside and
sit down. Then it hits.

Does your stool have wheels? I have tried a camp stool and it seems like more work.
Thank you for letting me know.

I also lay down on my side. As Pam notes it can be very hard to get up again. But it can be so good down there.

Don't you folks have bugs and critters?!! No little Opuntia seedlings? No stinging nettle? The fire ants would be all over me if I got prone on the ground - along with who knows what else. I have these tiny, tiny little biting bugs. 25% smaller than a small dog flee at least. Small enough I'm not totally sure what they look like. If I forget to wear my cap or hat, they attack my head and get down in the hair. It's maddening. I forgot to put on the cap this afternoon and was just about certifiable by the time I came it at dark thirty! They had gotten in my hair and down my collar. I'm not too much on wearing sandals and shorts here, which I'm sure is huge benefit for anyone who might happen by, but.... Sticking tongue out

Donald, I am immune to most bites. But two days ago a hairy caterpillar got me under the ear while I was lying amongst the daylilies. Them I am not immune too - it caused the epidermis to blister and separate from the underlying tissue. They are not my favourite animals at the moment.

Fire ants are on the mainland now. I assume they will change my recumbent weeding forever when they get to the island.
