I like the round purple with the bright green throat. From the picture, it seems to be true purple, no munge. Patterns are no big deal to me, some I like, some I dont, some I love, but what I really want is a flower that makes me smile when I round the corner of the house and spot it. If its interesting when I get right on top of it, so be it, but I still want true colors. I have a bad habbit of getting brown, I dont have the knack of imagination, but still trying.

What Betty said about curious to know the cross. My quote thingy didn't work.

My response:
Me too, me too. Very curious here as well. Especially on the third one.
Green throat with light brushing of cocoa, then two shades of a pale pink watermark
as per what my monitor shows.

Ooooh .... that first one is gorgeous! I KNEW it had DD in it or one of it's children as a parent! Mighty nice!

Love the second one too and am always surprised when the bloom shows NO pattern from DD as a parent. Cool!

Those crosses are fascinating. In my wildest dreams I would have never guessed the last three were sibs. I think its great to see a plant...buddys spook in this case, can make the whole spectrum, nothing is a given, thats for sure.

Beautiful Fred. Both of them. Thumbs up

Thanks for the crosses on the previous ones.
Big difference on the 3 sibs, and a show of some teeth on the first one.
So now we know what characteristics come from what.
This is educational, and every bit of information is so helpful.

Excellent! Love them both, the first for that incredible eye and the second for that beautiful huge greenish throat! And I sure hope they both make it past the elimination stage!

Love the top one Fred. It's what Big Red Wiggles wishes it was, or at least from the garden pics I've seen of it.

Thanks everyone, I am hoping that after that first bloom and warmer nights the canoeing goes away, I have seen a lot of that in the early blooms of the pattern seedlings. Everything seems to open better above 65* night time temps, we have not reached that yet.
This is the third seedling from this cross and it's huge at 9" with a 12" wingspan.

Fred,
What is the correct way to measure the bloom size on something like the top one?

You measure from sepal to petal just the way you see it, you only uncurl the sepal and petal to measure wingspan.

This being the first bloom on this flower I can show
how to measure and how not to measure. When registering
a daylily you want to take several measurement's during
bloom season to get an average size.

You measure from the front, the petal and sepal that
is most close to normal form.
Thumb of 2016-04-26/spunky1/983ab4
Here the pedal is not normal form.
