jmorth,..interesting sight to see with the Damselflies,..something i never knew,..great shot Thumbs up

Lin,..i wouldn't be at all surprised if the Red Bellied Woodpecker was trying to take over the Downy Woodpeckers area,..i see all the waterbirds doing this,..not forgetting the Crows trying to take over the Magpies nest.

Hurray! Hurray! A Bald Eagle,..well done Thumbs up something you don't see every day.

Mika,..well spotted about those Signposts,..they are the Nature Walk Signs though nobody can walk them as the river is still high and being so since last October,..we are in a very flat County,..it rained for two days non stop this week and the river as you see below shows the fishing Jetties barriers above the water.( The River Bank is where the Barriers are).

Yesterday you see the barriers,..........................................................Today almost covered.

Philip,

Wow, you sure have had a lot of rain in your area, what a difference in those two photos showing the different water levels. I love the colors and markings on the Blue Tit and I really like that Great Crested Grebe, it's much larger and prettier than the little Pied-billed Grebe we see here. I had to google and read more about that one. I love birds with crests and the Great Crested Grebe is really beautiful; the young ones are so cute too with their black and white striped heads! I found it very interesting to read that in a clutch with two or more babies, the adult male and female will each choose and identify their favorites which, they alone will care for and teach! Gee, and I always heard that parents (especially a mother) never has a favorite among her children, that she loves each equally ... although, I am one of six children and I know I was always my moms favorite. Green Grin!

I took Tori to a friends who lives on the other side of the lake. Coming home I looked up and there was an eagle in a tree. It has been reported they sit in this tree but I have never been fortunate enough to see them there. So I decided I would go home grab my camera and come back. I was praying the whole time that it would sti;; be there. It was really just a matter of like 10 12 minutes for me to get back. Ad it was still there plus another one!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

This is my first ever photo of a wild eagle! The adult was the one I saw initially. The juvenile arrived before I got back. It is rainy windy and dark here so not great but I am thrilled! Just taken within 30 minutes ago.

A female cardinal has made a nest in one of my hanging baskets. I have been checking regularly on the 3 eggs that were laid some time back. Today I found that all had hatched and here are the arrivals. These had to have been born in the last day or so.

Oh sweet babies!

I am watching to see if the robins nest again in one of our trees. Will be watching for baby thrashers too!

I went to pick up Tori at 8 and the adult eagle was there again so I tried to get a couple more. It was still raining so will have to see what I got.

Wow, amazing photos, people! What a range of beauties - swans, damselflies, cranes, eagles and tiny baby cardinals... The only birds I've seen here recently have been a pair of magpies (permanent residents) and the thieving seagull (now a regular) and his mates.
We travel back to England today after a wonderful last day walking in the mountains and then undoing all the good with a great meal in a famous restaurant overlooking the coast on the French/Italian border. Big Grin

John, so glad you decided to post the baby Cardinal photo over here! I really look forward to hearing how those little ones do and of course to hopefully see more pictures as they grow up.

Welcome! GrammaChar! I see you're new to ATP. Welcome to the best forum on here! I'm the friendly moderator, Melanie, and I'm totally biased. Rolling on the floor laughing I'm mostly a butterfly gardener, but the bird folks are teaching me tons! Hope to see you here frequently!
