It took at least 29 days for this scape to have an open bloom. A bit longer than it did for the 2nd scape, which bloomed day before yesterday. Maybe the scape that bloomed first should have waited a day or two more. This is a much, much nicer bloom today. I think 'Tusk' may be just about finished blooming before another daylily manages to have a bloom, but I'm seeing lots of what I call 'pre-scape' growth in the fans now and a few have scapes above the foliage

I had some really nice blooms in the garden this morning. The warmer weather seems to be improving them with each day now. Still there are some that have not improved at all. I am very disappointed in the blooms of Nagasaki, they have done nothing to impress me so far. They all seemed to have a off balanced look about them, and the color is very pale and anemic looking.
Thumb of 2016-04-29/Seedfork/19b211
However, as disappointed as I am in Nagasaki, this bloom of Irish Envy was a real knockout. The bloom is actually a much greener tint than shows in the photo and the bloom was large and just beautiful.

Remembering Joan: First bloom of the year.I think for a first bloom this looks pretty nice. It will get better.

First bloom of the year on Petticoat Frills, very pleased with this bloom.

Some big blooms on a couple of different yellow NOIDs:

I had quite a few other blooms in the garden today but they were repeats, the Siloam Double Classic had several blooms today but it was back to singles mostly. The Royal Eventide blooms are still all looking like doubles so I have come to accept that is what they will be.

Very nice blooms happening out there.

I had a bloom on 'Swirling Spider' opening this morning when I hit the road on a trip. Unfortunately, I will not be back today to see it Crying

At 4AM this is what it looked like...

The good news is, it has another large bud developing and Should open when I return.

So sorry you had to miss your bloom, but fortunately there will be more
of them as you say. Stan, you put me to shame photographing one at
4AM. I wake up extra early during daylily season from the excitement of
seeing new blooms, but not that early. Thumbs up

Shirlee, you give me too much credit. I was headed out on a road trip or I wouldn't have been up that early. I would slept in another couple minutes and walked out around 4:30. Rolling on the floor laughing
Thank you though. Smiling

I'm amazed at the bloom I'm getting this early. We are 3-4 weeks ahead of last year. Here are a couple of new ones for you.

I have a few new blooms in the garden this morning:
This is the real 'Mister Lucky' blooming: I do like this bloom a lot.
Thumb of 2016-04-30/Seedfork/cacb4e
The 'Femme Fatale' mixed in with 'Mister Lucky' is also blooming today, but it looked very bad so no photo.

I did not have labels on these for some reason after I moved them, but I have several clumps of
'Crimson Pirate' blooming all at the same time this morning. It is a cheap daylily that multiplies like crazy but I still think it has beautiful blooms. It added a lot of color to the garden this morning.
Thumb of 2016-04-30/Seedfork/be90a1

The first bloom ever in my garden for 'Lullaby Baby', this is a small bloom.

Not the first nor the best bloom so for on 'Magic Lake'. It took most of the season last year(first year in the garden) for this plant to put out a decent looking bloom, but I did have one the other day that would have been very nice except for the rain.

Mandalay Bay Music showing a first bloom this year, very drab and splotchy looking, but it is a first bloom.

I had a few blooms today, but unfortunately the one I've been waiting for did not open all the way due to our cooler weather.

Just made it over to th daylily forum the first time this year. It's fun to see all the early blooms even if all of them don't open perfectly. Be a little while yet here in zone 5. Cold this last week so even the tall bearded iris are slow to open.

Great blooms, and it's great seeing garden shots of the new Stamiles' Fred. Did you get their entire collection?

Thanks for posting everyone!

Fred, I'm right there with Betty. It's great to see garden shots of those. Thanks!

Leslie,
It is a seedling that was given to me years ago. It reliably blooms poly blooms every year, just not a high percentage...probably about 25 to 30%.

For those looking for this plant it is 'Tar and Feather' no "s" on the end. That reminds me I found two name tags in the garden yesterday that I need to redo, but I can't remember what one of them was now.
