It seems like every year I fall in love with another salvia, my favorite plant family. Last year it was Wendy’s Wish - which, sadly, died over the winter because it didn’t get carried into the greenhouse. I’m debating about replacing it because I’ve put it on the “Needs Too Much Attention” list. Fortunately my new heart-throb can take both the heat and the cold. I know that this Autumn Sage, Salvia greggii x Raspberry Delight, is not a new offering - but once in a while you see a specimen that exceeds the norm in color and shape. This one certainly does both, and I think it’s gorgeous!

Very pretty! Lovey dubby

Give 'Wendy’s Wish' a chance to return from the roots. It is often a hardy perennial in zone 8 if we don't have a really harsh winter.

Okay, I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanks for the tip.
What's that flower by your name? It's stunning!

I agree with Danita. Mine sprung up last year just when I thought I'd have to buy a replacement.

Just a comment about not giving up on salvia. Each year I almost give up on my Black and Blue salvia but have been pleasantly surprised so far.

Now I'm waiting to see if salvia leucantha will return in another garden. The cold hardiness zone for it is 8, and we're in zone 7, so it's doubtful.

Veronica, is Black and Blue salvia perennial for you? I thought they were marginally hardy even in my zone 7. Is there something special you do to overwinter it?

I do nothing special.. I am anxiously waiting on it but I have quite a wait still.. It's about the last thing to emerge and that is good because it has been very cold here this spring.
