Greetings, ya'll. Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been gardening in TX since 2006, and this is my first posting on ATP forums. I just moved to a new property outside of Denton and started out with a blank slate (think builder installed plantings and turf). Looking forward to swapping tales and experiences on the many challenges facing Texas gardeners.

Welcome! And woohoo! on blank slate! Nobody had gardened here before we got here (unless you want to count the oleander), but there were great native plants here already! My place was challenging because of caliche and very little soil, but I've managed to go with mostly native and well-adapted plants.

I also try to use the natives and adapted plants although also have some obsessive collections like clematis. The best advice I have is to invest in amending the soil and mulching.

Welcome!
I'm in Bedford, I'm an avid gardener and I'm looking for friends that would love to herb shopping with me. I used to go with my mom, but she passed away two years ago. If anyone is interested in meeting up I would love to met some local gardening friends. I also like succulents and just about any plant. I've gotten into Rex Begonias and Hoyas as well.

@Sherylj Welcome! You just missed a plant swap near Fort Worth on Mar 26th, or around then. There's usually one near Arlington in the fall that might interest you. @javaMom might be able to fill you in on the Fort Worth one. @frostweed would know about the Arlington one.
We're so glad you found us!

Hi, Sheryl! There's lots of gardening organizations in North Texas. Have you tried joining any? Seems like a good way to meet garden shopping buddies!
