I ordered 3 kinds of wild violets. One gets pink flowers, the other gets dark purple leaves but is the same species that grows around here, and another has variegated leaves. I'll see how they grow and if they spread!

I too love violets which is a good thing as I am COVERED in wild white ones. Went to a swap once and everyone thought I was crazy asking for purple ones

Any native plant that blooms & is too short to need to be mowed is beyond awesome, IMVHO!

The pink ones I'm getting are said to be rare, so I hope to get them spreading and possibly collect seed.

They tolerate pot culture if you add some sand or chicken-grit to your soiless mix. Once the seed pod has formed, and starts to stick itself up above the leaves pick seed pods.

Put seed pods in a mason-jar with cheese-cloth and ring so that pods can dry. As they dry they explode.

Last year I found white violet leaves growing and dug them up and had them in my pocket for an hour until I got home. I put dirt in a pot and put the white tuber in and forgot about it. Well, the pot is full of green leaves now and lavender flowers, what a hardy plant!
