Oh, that may be it. I didn't look close enough for the bracts, but we discussed those last year on a plant in my yard. http://www.illinoiswildflowers...

Low growing 'Weed' with pretty lil flowers growing in my yard most of the year (both sun and shade)sans winter. ID anyone? My apologies if I asked before.
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...
It is Asiatic Dayflower (Commelina communis), a common non-native wildflower. There is a native species known as Virginia Dayflower (Commelina virginica) that is almost identical except that the little lower petal is blue instead of white.

Awww thanks David!! One more (sorry purging old cell pics and coming across plants I was curious about). These are shrubs in Charlottesville that bloom late spring as I recall...beautifully scented. I don't recall seeing any thorns.

that is commonly known as privet. Not sure the 'real' name right off.
You can prune it off or let it grow, it can grow tall. They are tough shrubs. Not evergreen here much, but maybe farther south they are.

I 'm no longer much surprised by the plants I can't remember, but must have planted. Especially the way people unload things on ya at the end of swaps.

Mine were pics taken down in Charlottesville. I've had a few mention Privat now...going to look that up.

A friend bought a house in NY and asked me to help ID the shrubs. Does anyone recognize them? The first 4 photos are of the same plants. Some sort of boxwood? The one in the last photo has variegated leaves.
The photos were taken only a few days ago. So the shrubs are probably evergreen.
