Humph, poooooo, and grumph.

Do you see my frown through the screen??

I live in Tiny Town, but we took the day off today and went to the Big City (which isn't really big at all, but is bigger than Tiny Town). Tops on my list of things to get? Quickwall, of course!!!

No dice.

Nadda.

No go.

No joy.

Waaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

'scuse me...I'm not finished pitching my fit yet.

Waaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

sniffle.

I'm going to call the local hardware store and see if Mr. Randy will order some special for me. It's a long shot, though.

trying to hold back the tears and sniffles....

Trish, my former in-laws live in the same tiny town as you, and if I were to guess the not-so-big town where you went shopping, I might say it is the same one where my momma lived for about 10 years. Smiling

Trish when I went to Lowes Wed. I checked and they didn't carry it. I asked and they said it is not something they get a lot of call on so they won't get it in. They said a quick dry mortar mix would just about work the same. At the same time I was getting my mortar mix there was a lady who was picking up the same thing I was for her ee leaf mold to make bird baths and such that she sells. It will take about the same time to dry.

If this is Quik wall I used it has little fibers in it to hold the cement and make it stronger. It is higher in price but it is worth it to be stronger....

It was Lowes that I went to, and they don't carry it. I guess I could have gone back across town to try Home Depot, but we were all pretty tired by then.

I've been messing with Quickcrete plus a combination of other things... but haven't produced anything wonderful yet. Really wanted to try the Quickwall.

Debra- yeah- Tyler. Having lived in Knoxville, Raleigh, Dallas, Atlanta, and San Antonio, Tyler is a small city that thinks it is very big Rolling my eyes. But it is bigger than J-ville!

Trish, before you tire yourself out going to Home Depot if Randy the helpful hardware man is a no go then remember the old song we used to all sing along with on TV. Let your fingers do the walking to the yellow pages. Give Home Despot a ring & see if they have it.

Hmmmm... how about a musical note down there in those icons... seems like I'm always quoting songs....

Aw Trish, bummer. Sad It comes in 50# bags so shipping would probably cost more than the Quikwall. I've bought it at Home Depot before so I hope you can get some there.

Charleen is right, it does have fibers in it to make it stronger.

Here are some planter heads I made using Quikwall and molds. The gold one is painted, the white one isn't. I glued some beads on them for a little extra interest.

Bummer Trish! Thumbs down We live in a small town too but fortunately Lowes does carry it here. I'd be lost if they discontinued it, closest Home Depot is 40 min away. Blinking You can always buy the cement and add fibers and bonding agent but it's such a hassle. That's one of the reasons why I LOVE QuikWall, it's so easy! Lovey dubby

Wow Chris, those came out great! Did you sand them after you cast them? They're so smooth!

No sanding necessary. The mold is a hard plastic mold and they work great.

I have a few things I'd like to make using molds but I was afraid the fibers would make the surface too rough and I wanted a smooth finish. That's good to know, thanks! I tip my hat to you.

You could singe them off if they bother you. But it might look like creation had "zits" I read that somewhere about the flame not the zits Rolling on the floor laughing But it makes great looking creations, the the cement is bleached, when you open the bag , it's white with little short fibers which are also white...

This is such a great thread (great forum, really), filled with good ideas & great tips. I've been reading the ball challenge thread also, so now I'm not going to donate that sack of unbreakable silver Christmas balls I haven't been using as I thought I might... they're about 4 inches across and would look great covered in quickwall and decorated in a variety of ways. I can just see them scattered throughout the garden. I'm thinking I'd probably need to put the self-adhesive drywall tape over them first (they're plastic) so the quickwall would stick, unless quickwall will stick to something slick (like a balloon? ooh, there's another idea.).
We're all learners, doers, teachers.

Great idea with the Christmas balls Jill! Yes, you would need to cover them with drywall tape first. I'm not sure a balloon would be stiff enough to apply the Quikwall to though.
