Great planter heads!
Hmmm.... the balloons... wouldn't the tape stick to them then the quickwall could be applied. hey, it's worth a shot --- what do you have to lose? I'm seeing elongated balloons painted like squash & watermelons & zuchinni & those hot dog balloons curving like some squash do...

Thanks Ann. When I do the spheres I use beach balls. If you use balloons you'd have to blow them up until they're pretty tight. Then it might work. Worth a try! Your ideas sound cute!
Now, I've seen people do paper mache' on balloons & they hold long enough for that to dry so maybe do paper mache' then you would have a more rigid form to put the QuikWall on. You know, some balloons make an egg type shape. You could make some cute giant easter eggs for the garden.

Update: Dave talked to Randy for me at the Tiny Town Local Hardware Store. Randy said that he doesn't deal much with Quickcrete (they use another company usually), but he would try to see if he could make a small order with them and get me 5 bags in the next couple of weeks.
Just to give you an idea of how Tiny Town this place is- it's probably one of the few places left in the US where people walk around smoking inside and the employees have ash trays behind the counter!
at the ashtrays on the counter. I first saw that when we moved here and having moved from a "more metropolitan" area, I had never seen that. Tiny town indeed!
The town we moved to is not as tiny as either of yours but we have seen employees with ashtrays behind the counters anyway. We have both a Lowe's & Home Depot right in town here. We've seen more smokers than we've seen in the past 15 years. Ah-hem, we are trying to quit ourselves.
YAY! on Randy seeing if he can get you some Quikwall!!!!!! Tiny towns can have their drawbacks but Tiny towns also have their very good points such as personal service. You can't beat that.

Our local hardware store is like that. They usually have about anything you can think of but if they don't, they will get it for you. It even has the old wood floors and the cabinet that holds all the screws, etc., is one of the real old ones with a million drawers in it. LOVE going in there

Ann- you are exactly right about service. Randy treats us real good, and we also support him before we'd go into any big box store (including Walmart, which we do have).
Vic- There was a store in Kerrville that was soo charming and quaint. We LOVED going in there, and you just never knew what you'd find. Sort of the old fashioned general store...not even a computerized cash register!
Where else can you find corks of every size, from salt shakers to wine bottles! They're one of only three places known in the US to carry Blue Waltz perfume! I can spend an hour in there easily every time we go.

HA! No Blue Waltz here but I have a whole drawer full of corks! I never toss them, I use them too...great for jars of flavored oils, spiced vinegars, blended liquid soaps....and someday, maybe a table top. LOVE corks!
