This is my favorite wild flower for its true brilliant sapphire blue.

I also love the Arrow leaf Balsam because it is great wilderness survival food.

And nothing beats my Colorado Blue Spruce when it comes in bloom. Another summer favorite.

That may take a little more hybridizing...
Some of them kind of hang down...
I just can't decide what to name it.
Maybe "Blue Sprilly." ?

In case you were wondering...,

I didn't put the Lillies there. The oriental lily trees are growing inside the Spruce on their own.

You can imagine how stumped I was the first time I looked across the yard and saw giant yellow blossoms on my Baby Colorado Spruce tree. I wondered if someone was playing a joke on me.

Apparently I planted a young spruce tree right on top of a Lilly patch without realizing it.

But now y'all have an interesting garden idea...

When the Lillies send up shoots every spring they just wind through the branches until they find some sunlight and then pop their blooms open. 😊🌺

Now back to wild flowers.

I just pulled out a lot of wild plants off this slope. I didn't see them bloom so I hope they were not flowers.

I picked up some native wild flowers to scatter on my hill... after I fell in love with the ones already there. These are the same kind.

I want to see if it's easier to transplant or seed them.

Doing the 50 /50 method .. I have done that ,, Also known sometimes as the three year at random method here Smiling
Best about either is you get several plants you might not get otherwise . Smiling
Love trial fun , as far as the garden Hurray!

SpringGreenThumb) Seed scattering , if done that way , Seeds germinate very randomly in the wild , even if most sprout on schedule (the time of year their suppose to ) Many will be later growers ,,
Most production seeds , are collected to be grown within a year , Wild it does not always happen that way
Even field sowing , 5yrs time elapsed before some would show , I use to do that ,

When do you recommend I sow these seeds?

SpringGreenThumb Some in the west are best done mid summer , others winter sowing , ask your local garden club ,or Agriculture Agent ,

Utah has a great many different climates , Alpine mountain top to low desert and salt flats ,
Your pictures look lower foothill Cascades , or is that Sierra ,, ?

With me Nature almost always says fall (when seeds fall naturally), but that depends on ones point of view , Many opinions
