This is plectranthus ecklonii. It needs shade, but I didn't think these would flower in the very dense shade of a Mulberry tree. They're doing just fine. The pics don't show how dark it is under there. The few I've planted where they get some sun (midday now that a large overhanging Hopseed Bush died) are not doing so well. These also come in a white flowered version which I don't have, need to see about that!

Wow! that's really pretty! I'm always trying to find things that will tolerate my Avocado tree. I tried some cuttings of P. Mona Lavendar but the leaf drop quickly smothered them. Then of course, there's the root issue.

The ecklonii gets large and substantial enough to tolerate the leaf drop , Mona would definitely be smothered. What I have going under the north side of my avocado (next to the Mulberry tree, gets angled morning sun) is quite a few salvia miniatas and a few other tall mexicana salvias.

Unfortunately, Mine gets the blazing afternoon sun in summer. Not much sun at all in winter. I will keep my eye open for that Plectranthus though.

I think perhaps I love the grasses most of all. Odd, considering especially that they are un-scented. I think it must have to do with the coloring and the light and Fall.....
