Thread OP

Hello everyone. I would like to know if anyone knows the name of the two tall plants (on the left and right corners) on the back in the picture? I bought them from my local nursery while they were on sale, but non of them had any tag. I tried to Google but without any luck. Thank you in advance.

The one at the back left reminds me of

The one at the back right I can't see as well but it reminds me of one of the following:
Aralia (Eleutherococcus sieboldianus 'Variegatus')
Ming Aralia (Polyscias fruticosa 'Snowflake')

You are very welcome, does the one on the left look like Schefflera elegantissima?

Yes, it's Schefflera Elegantissima. I guess these plants are not common house plants because even the staff at my local nursery doesn't know its name. Thank you again Plantlydylin.

It's possible the staff just didn't have time to go into the name of that plant, which requires a paragraph at least. It was originally in the Aralia genus, then moved to Dizygotheca (and is probably when it was given the nickname "false Aralia.") Then it spent some time in Schefflera, and is now moved to Plerandra though the database here doesn't reflect that at this point.

Tropicos, Catalogue of Life and The Plant List all have it listed as Schefflera elegantissima with Plerandra being a synonym.

Kew's World Checklist (the referenced database used by the COL and The Plant List) notes Plerandra elegantissima as the accepted name.

It looks like this is a fairly recent change, Brittonia 65: 49 (2013). Two of the three authors are the ones who placed S. elegantissima as accepted, Baileya 23: 9 (1989).

I'll change our entries.

TY, Evan. I didn't realize the new info had met the criteria for changing here. Lin, happy to share. It was brought to my attention sometime in the past year. Wish there was some kind of newsletter to subscribe to plant name changes.
