I know this is an old post, but there still is not a Hawaii badge and rather than opening another new thread for microbadges, I will just ask here. Is a certain number of members from each state needed to be able to create a badge for that area? We still have quite a few states that are not represented, and some of them have more than a few members representing them, such as Connecticut, Washington State, etc.

I connect more with my planting region (Pacific NW) than the state (Washington) itself, which has two divergent growing regions, depending on which side of the mountain range one is on. I find the state outlines to be rather boring, the state flags to be meaningless unless one is familiar with flags, and occasionally a very clever badge (Georgia peach, Kansas windmill). I can only speak for myself, but would not be interested in a Washington state badge. To me, it has nothing to do with gardening. If we have enough Washington patriots, by all means give them a badge, but at least put an apple in it. And perhaps wait until they ask for one... Just my 2 cents.

I can agree with and understand that sentiment. When I move, I will be utilising the PNW badge whether there is a Washington badge or not. I was just curious why some states still weren't represented, and what the reasoning was. Perhaps those states don't want badges. Funny that you mentioned the apple, because I just learned today that Washington is the largest supplier of apples in the States. I had no idea! Thumbs up

Washington apples are the best, James! I think most badges come about when people ask for them, and if they can design and present them to Dave then it's even better. I like the PNW one that covers a good area with similar weather.

I agree with Karen, and can only presume that no one has yet asked for a Washington badge. Perhaps that will be James, our new transplant!

I'll be well over on the PNW side of the mountains, so I will probably adopt those beautiful evergreens and drop my Florida. I cannot get rid of Texas though, because it is my home.

Still waiting for the Hawaii badge. Would also like a Bamboo badge.

Must be able to get one for Hawaii as I see Puerto Rico has one and they are not a State.

For those who want one, what would you like to see for a Hawaii badge? As Karen notes, it is helpful to do that initial searching for copyright free images which Dave can then do whatever it is he does to make the badges. Same with the bamboo badge request. I am unclear how one knows if an image is copyright protected or not, and there is also something about the size of the image.

Maybe a volcano and a rainbow? Rainbows are even in their driver's licenses. Maybe just the string of islands with a rainbow?

Scott, that is lovely - the image perfectly says 'Hawaii' to me, a PNWer who has only visited the islands a few times.

Generally, if you post an appropriate image and tag Dave, he'll accept it. If you search the forums for a thread about a hydroponics badge, you'll see Dave give me the instructions on exactly what he's looking for. Good luck!
