Hello, I think the "Thai socotranum" (of which this plant is an example) is a misnomer... these plants are just selections of arabicum with chunky roots. The plant pictured certainly matches that description far better. I would like to recommend that this plant be renamed accordingly. You will find plenty of talk about socotranum from the Thai breeders but there is little evidence of that species in the plant itself. What do you think?

A. arabicum is now classified as a synonym of A. obesum subsp. obesum. Do you think the species name in the 'Golden Crown' entry should be changed to A. obesum subsp. obesum?

Yes, if that's the current name, I think it should.

I've found two websites so far that refer to Thai Socos as Adenium arabicum, so I will make the change to A. obesum subsp. obesum after RCanada has seen this discussion.

That is fine, ZuZu. Just seeing these and it has been quite some time.
Thank you for the notification, albeit late in seeing it.
