Hi peony people, I need your opinion on this one. It was labeled Spring Carnival at Adelman's Peony Gardens. From photos on the web the color appears to be somewhat variable. Note that the bloom is just opening. Photo taken yesterday.

It doesn't look like my Spring Carnival. Yours is so full and more yellow. I'm not so sure that that is it.

You may want to send Adelmans your photo. See what they think.

Tracey yours looks different from most that come up on google search. Yours is almost white. See here:

https://www.google.com/search?...

Some look quite yellow but what they all have in common is a dark pink picotee edge. I might have to drive back up there and look again Whistling .

The edge is distinct and should be present. Im not sure which picture of mine you are speaking of, but the pictures you linked look like what I have.

The picture may have been in hotter weather or on a faded bloom. I see which pic now you speak of..

I'll keep the photo out of the database since I can't be sure on it, especially the missing edge. I know we have soil here that seems to enhance color in some plants, and the temperature was cool yesterday.

I can hardly wait to see if my 'reborn' from roots Coral Charm blooms this year. I doubt it. But Abalone Pearl is going great guns after almost dying out last year, its first year in the bed. I am amazed at how robust it is. Would be nice to have a bloom but don't see any buds yet. To be truthful I had forgotten to look for buds as only one or two of mine have 'unfurled' much less shown buds.

Beautiful blooms LG, and your Prairie Butterflies is stunning! It's now been added to my wanted list.

Many of my plants are blooming rapidly. My tree peonies are done blooming, and the herbaceous plants are really taking off.

I went out to look for my Coral Magic after the mention of the variety earlier in this string, made me realize I haven't seen it coming up this year. Looked at the pics from last year and sure enough, it was up and budded by this time. Located it and carefully moved the mulch, nothing, so I dug deeper. I found the top of the root and gently brushed away most of the dirt and it seems okay--there are tiny, whitish eyes on it. Maybe it sank and I covered it too much? I recovered with a small amount of dirt but left the mulch off, hopefully I'll get growth even if no flowers. If anything comes up I'll mark it to move for the fall and get it out of the depression it's in now. Hopefully I caught it in time!

Annette, your blooms are lovely!!!
And yes, Karen, I truly enjoy seeing the blooms. I hate it that I have to go to work and miss some of the stages of the blooms.
I will post this photo of 'Prairie Butterflies' taken late in the day.

Oh wow, so sorry that you have got two mislabels from Wild. Two years ago, I bought Dresden Pink and I got exactly the same pink ones as you have got there. I also bought Mother's Choice which bloomed white but looked nothing like Mother's Choice(weak stems and loose petals formation which is not typical of MOther's Choice) I complained and they issued me a credit only for Dresden Pink but they refused to issue me a credit for Mother's Choice. They claimed that what they sent me was Mother's Choice. Since then I have refrained from buying peonies from Gilbert Wild unless the cultivars they sell are not offered elsewhere.

Oh Annette. Your gardens are beyond gorgeous. Mine look like a desert compared with yours. I always say this at this time of year as I see all the lovely blooms and yards down south.

I got two tiny peony roots last year, species, and I just dug them up as they were about the size of a 2 cup measuring cup. One was totally rotten and the other didn't look good but had a bit of growth. I put it in a pot and into my garage. I am hoping to save it. Have never ordered from them before but they had the type of plant I wanted. And obvata was one.

Thank you all for your kind comments!

Diann, many of my plants are blooming, but I still have a lot in the bud phase, and I have one that's still emerging. The latter maybe one of my Buckeye Belle that I thought I lost.

Mary, I'll be drooling over your blooms this summer when my peonies are done blooming. I feel your pain about the loss of peonies, my Red Charm is a no show this year Crying I was really looking forward to seeing it bloom. I may dig in the area to see what I find.

I have ordered so may peonies from GH Wild over the years, and so far the ones that bloomed are correctly named. LG, sorry to see that you got the wrong plant, however, I love the vibrant bloom color.
