This shrub is growing on a rocky bank in my yard. The new foliage has a pretty red color. It's under the power lines so a lot of things get bird-seeded there. Anyone have an idea what it might be?

Thanks Janet, It's quite likely that a plum tree could start from bird droppings. I'll have to let it grow a bit and see if it becomes more obvious. It got beat up pretty bad either by a snowplow or a puppy and I was on the fence about whether to try to save it or not.

Hi Lauribob!
If you happen to log in... I am curious if you saved this shrub/tree and if you are happy with that. It's very pretty. I have a seedling that the PlantNet app identified as likely to be this species. Smiling
