Hello I would like to start by telling why I am here. Years ago my husband made me very mad, he said he would do anything to make things right again, so I told him to get me a Bonsai. Why? I do not know, I guess because they are hard to find around here. Anyway he got me one, and it died. I could not understand why? how? or what I did wrong, so I started researching. before my son was born and all we lived at his house with his parents. they had a garden and some driveway plants. it was my job to water the garden on time and all. I seen the plants in the driveway almost dead and started caring for them. within a week these plants were up tall and bright. That is when I realized that I had a green thumb. soon after that I went to college for Bonsai, and to my surprise, they taught everything but that. But with what I have learned has helped me in the process of Bonsai. I now have a greenhouse and all. I deal with all sorts of plants, trees, and shrubs. I bet everyone here has at least once got a Venus fly trap. I used to get them and they always died (because back then I thought, hey a plant needs soil and water). I did not know then what I know now about what kind of soil and water, and light is required for a plant. you could almost say I am an expert. Ok, lets get to the point now I rescue plants. that is what I do. I get them cheap and sell them. However with a lot of bonsai people you will find that we do not part often with our bonsai's. They tend to stay with us no matter what, LOL. well after years of hunting this one plant down, I found it the other day. It is a Chinese elm Bonsai, and it is also a shohin, meaning it is under 10 inches. where I am it is very hard to get a bonsai ( a real bonsai) so that is why It took so long. This is a rescue plant. it was the last one and in bad shape so it was discounted at a great price. I wanted to share this info with all of you as well as the fact that I just got another rescue plant. A Venus fly trap. I don't have a pic of it now but I will a bit later. however I do have a pic of my elm. which when I am done will be worth way more than it is now. but like I said, this is one of those plants that is not hitting the sales rack, ever. so take a look and feel free to ask me anything, and it was nice to meet you all.

hello, I have been to many bonsai fourms and well, they just don't like me. I am not the usual. Most people that do bonsai are well, let just say not like me at all in anyway. they like to do things the old way. I prefer the new ways in which you graft, and use stem cuttings and stuff like that. I think I belong more to a place like this here. they are very mean to me. I hope we all get along great.

Welcome, Angie! I think it's great that you rescue plants! Smiling Do you bonsai anything besides trees? I've heard of doing that with other types of perennials.

Welcome Angie!

I think you'll find a great group of people here, kind and friendly people. And this is a new site, so if we don't have the plant info to fit your need, it will be coming, or you can start threads on it.

I see in your profile you mention your son and plants, but no husband. Did he manage to get back on your good side, LOL?

Your son is just beautiful!
