I'm still hoping to find Tropicanna for this year but no luck so far. I had a new pot planted up with hot pink petunia & verbena and left a pot sized gap but I gave in and bought a dark leaved red flowered canna and planted it. It was in the houseplant section at the garden centre... I'm waiting for a new power supply for my PC so haven't been able to process any photos this week. I've run out of storage on my phone, so will update with a photo when I get a chance.

My next available daylight moment when it's not gloomy, I'll take a pic! TY for asking. ;)

In the meantime, here's a pic from Sunday of a crazy pot of mostly dangling plants. It's not the right combo to make the pot invisible though. Needed something with bigger leaves too..., as far as matching what I envision.

That has to be 8 feet. The Canna is sparkling with good care. I love the Tradescentias and swedish Ivy for trailers. I even see some Begonia Lucerna, I am struggling to get new growth out of her with starts t

Like I have not already been a real pest, Now I am getting down right demanding, but when that Canna blooms, It will be unbearably beautiful, and it won't be long. If I grew that, I would sit with my coffee right there every morning and just stare at that pot, keeping her tidy and neat. lol. Thank you for sharing this. I knew it was going to blow our socks off.

Thanks so much for sharing. We all have to love and adapt to our own growing zone, but this pot has made me feel a lil bitchy about the northwest growing zone. Angry ..........If there is ever something you are looking for that I can find here just give a holler. Wait.........like that will ever happen, but I do have connections for holly, lol

Thank You! for all the pics.

Hey, @purpleinopp: I thought you would get a kick out of seeing what my trailing Swedish Ivy looks like compared to yours. Rolling on the floor laughing It is in a three inch pot.....................................and that is not the worst of it............... it has been there for 2 months now. LOL. Now you see why a big o pot gets me so excited.

It is a cutting, with no will to live. But perhaps dropping it once, no twice, potting it in this bad soil, that never dried out, causing a second potting. Poor thing. I just have put it thru hell. I really think the very next time I see this for sale I am grabbing it so I can be done with this poor thing. Plants this small, in Washington will be small a long long time. He he.

I thought it was a little entertaining to compare my green thumb to yours. Thumbs up

Awww, if my thumb turns green, I'm going to freak out! Are you able to stick your cutting in the ground outside, in a not-too-dry & shady spot? If you still have about 2 months until a frost would likely show up, that would be worthwhile I think. That's when/where it really grows @ my house. For the few months when plants have to come inside, SI doesn't do much but rest.

Wow... Tiffany that is awesome... Such a wonderful entrance display....

Can't get over how healthy everything (especially the Canna) looks in the pot.

Just wondering how big is your pot?

TYVM! I've really been enjoying it.

The pot is industrial size, thigh-high-tall, and over 2 feet across the top.

Hey, those Cannas are still in that pot, 5 yrs later and looking so robust, but there has never been a bloom. And the Cannas are the only thing still alive.

I dug the Cannas out of that pot this past weekend. Even after cutting down a nearby tree that was preventing full-time sun shining on that spot, there were no blooms last year.

I ended up with approx. 5 gallons of Canna rhizomes. I stuck an enormous rooted Brugmansia cutting in the middle, and a few smaller friends that I don't expect to be perennial. If the wind ever quits beating the crap out of the plants, I'll take a pic soon.

Does anybody else have a ginormous pot?

I have a brug in a big pot which I lug into the garage every winter. It's 10, maybe even 15 years old and has never bloomed! Big luscious leaves, but never a bloom. I only keep it to torment my wife - I make a big event about bringing it out every spring ... maybe this is it's year?
