Tom -- my barn swallows were late this year. They are usually here one week after the Martins. This year, they were three weeks behind the Martins!!

But they are trying to make up for lost time -- building and re-lining nests at a frantic pace!!!

John just came up (computer on 2nd floor) to double check the color of MDB Alpine Lake. the plant had wandered away from its marker. I told him, but then checked into the iris encyclopedia. He said that was it seemed to be ,ok. it is just opening the standards. I. e. is easy to find I have the site on my favorites, & the ie appears at the lower left.

It's really not a true purple, I guess but that's what I call it. The falls are a more Indigo color and the standards are more purple. I like it even without a name, but it doesn't increase very fast. I have buds coming like crazy on the little guys so I should be kept busy soon trying to take pictures. I better go buy that new camera one of these days so I can get practicing with it.

My possibly Earl of Essex bloomed today. It is about two weeks early. It must be happy it was fed compared to years before because it is bigger.
