This plant was growing at the back of my bed. Did not look like a weed.
I believe it may be a baby tree of some kind, It has the woody stem and
leaves of a shrub or tree.

Can someone ID this? Thanks, Gita

Gita, it is most likely the seedling of a tree that you have growing in the area. Are the leaves pointed like a holly?
Start a new thread just for that photo, you will get more responses that way.

The serrates on the leaves don't look sharp enough.

Or Hawthorn?

There was a mention in the google link of zipcodezoo that Crataegus douglasii was sometimes cultivated but I can't find it on the link.

Woody Landscape Plant Species held at US National Arboretum, Maryland: (Crataegus douglasii is on the list)

The Woody Landscape Plants Germplasm Repository (WLPGR) is responsible for maintaining 182 genera that range from Abelia to Zelkova. More than 1,400 accessions of seeds are maintained in a mid-term storage facility, and 2,800 plants are maintained "on the grounds" at Beltsville and Glenn Dale, MD, and Washington, D.C. Not all accessions are available for distribution. Accessions that are available for distribution are for research purposes only to qualified institutions.

Thanks all!
I will let it grow a bit bigger and see what the leaves look like then.

There are many trees in my neighborhood--who knows what the wind brought in?
