When we built the solarium, some of the established landscape had to be removed in order to install the AC, water line, and sink/trench drains. I decided to just remove the rest of the plants, enlarge the area, and mulch it all with cypress mulch. I don't plan to grow anything here that is in the ground. All the plants will be potted. I think I will make it an herb garden and put a lot of my Plumeria there. The majority of my plumeria are now residing on the patio, so that will be a short move. I'll also have two large, 24" pots filled with White Butterfly Ginger there, forming sort of a screen adjacent to the AC/heat pump condenser. I will have some flowering plants as well.

Nice set-up Ken! You will be enjoying the plumerias once they are in bloom. Is that cream colored pot next to the 2 clay pots full of plumeria seedlings?
Yesterday, while watering, I saw that eight of these potted plumeria have inflo., not counting the two in the solarium in bloom. Gigi, you really can't see my small seedlings. They are tucked behind the large pots. I have seedlings from 6" tall up to 5' tall. Perhaps 1/4 of what you see are some sort of seedling. Most of what you see are older plants and three of them are 25 yr. old plants. You really can't tell dimensions from the picture, but the plumeria in the large cream-colored pot on the far right has a base that is 4.5" in diameter. The pot is 24" in diameter. All three of those old plants have bases like that. Because I keep them cut back, they all seem to do fine though they are probably very root-bound. They have been in the same pots for at least 10 years.

Ken, wonderful solarium and that garden is going to look beautiful ... can't wait to see photos once it's completed and you have all of your container plants in place!

Not quite, Lin. All those are just plumeria you see. I will still have approximately 400 plants in pots, sitting under my trees. Most of those are seedlings though, in 4" pots. I do hope this "herb garden/tropical plant garden" will look nice when everything is moved in.
