Does anybody know what this plant is my uncle has a growing in his yard he says that I gave it to him a couple of years ago but I've never seen it before he lives in Rhode Island. It looks like two different plants. These are the best pictures I could get.

If it's Virginia Bluebells (Mertensia virginica) it would probably be happier in a shady spot.

Is that a second different plant behind the Virginia bluebells?

That's what it looks like to me. It looks like a white bloom on one.

I see one stem of what look like trillium leaves or some shade-loving relative. If you can get a photo of the flower once it opens it would be easier to tell. Both would appear to be liking shade in the afternoon.

I'll ask him to send another picture but I'll be surprised and jealous if it's white Trillium.

Cannot be a trillium. It has a stem with opposite leaves.

The other plant looks like a Peony, see if you can get a photo of the open flower.

@purpleinopp
@shadegardener I'm sorry I must have left my manners in the bed this morning I had responded without first giving thanks. I didn't even recognize that as a Virginia Bluebell. Trillium would have been a good guess it does have the three leaves and the picture is blurry. I think @leftwood is right that it's not trillum. @jrsbugs he did tell me about that the white Bloom look like a little Rosette so it could be a peony. I asked him to take a better picture of the white bloom and the plant but he's just as busy as the rest of us so it might be awhile thanks for all the help I'll post another picture as soon as I get it.

Leftwood - your eyes are definitely better than mine! Smiling At first the white flower reminded me of a lady slipper but I don't grow those and have no frame of reference.

He sent me some new pictures today of The White Flower and it really does resemble a peony but I have never seen leaf's that that look like that on the peony. But who am i to say anything I didn't even recognize the Virginia bluebells. Whistling

The flower is much like Paeonia mlokosewitschii, I had one but it didn't live for long. I think the leaves can be a bronze colour but it could be a hybrid of it.
