Tropical Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Fort Myers Yellow')

This plant recovered nicely from being almost totally destroyed by deer in my yard last year. It started blooming on March 2nd this year while still in the overwinter greenhouse and is still full of blooms today.

I'm not much of a Hibiscus person but I saw this for sale at Lowe's last weekend and it kind of blew me away. That had a few different cultivars, and I was taking pictures for the database. This one really tempted me. I don't know that I have a place it could grow in the ground, but I see it says it's suitable for large containers. Chris, you mentioned moving it to your greenhouse so do you grow it in a container? Also, if someone knows how much sun or shade they can take, that would be helpful. I know people around here generally plant Hibiscus in full sun - even here with Florida sun, but if I put it in a container, I might have to put it in some shade. I was wondering how that might affect blooming and overall growth. Oh heck, I'm probably going to convince myself I have somewhere to put in the ground. It's just so pretty!

Good morning Melanie, yes, I have mine in a large container. I found this on the internet - http://www.learn2grow.com/plan... which hopefully will answer all your questions. There were about 2 or 3 times this past winter that I had to treat it and another recent Hibiscus acquisition for spider mites while in the greenhouse. It does have beautiful blooms.
