Jovibarba hirta are especially hardy, and are native to different parts of Europe. They are also referred to as rollers as they have very short fragile stolons that break and send the little round offsets rolling away from the parent. It doesn't take long for them to make a dense, mat that covers the ground. You just have to love these little guys.

Can't wait to see which ones you have twit. See you later. Take care. Here is one I got from a dear friend.
J. hirt f/Belansky Tatra This is such a sweet little plant, can't wait until it starts multiplying.

They also can take lots more cold than even Sempervivum - all the Jovibarba are great for that. My old rusty wheelbarrow is filled with them, and even through snow, ice and cold they are happy, not so Semps in similar conditions. Gotta love that!
Kin and twit got me started on them. They are such fun plants.
Okay, that is all of the hirtas I have, come on, show us which ones you all have.
Can't wait to see more of them.
Twit look, Tatra is making babies. It has been struggling every since I got it, now with these fall rains it is positively taking off. What a cutie it is.

Yes, I am quite fond of the hirta's. I'll be posting some pics soon, I hope. I've been collecting my pots from different locations and grouping in the same place to make that easier. I added several to my collection this summer thanks to help from friends and a few purchases. Hope to keep expanding them over time. They are likely the easiest to grow and maintain.
I never paid much attention to them until this year. I fell in love with them this summer. I will definitely have to add to the collection come next spring.

They are great, aren't they? These were in my mixed bag unlabeled Jovibarba and they are tough! I never worry that they won't make it through the winter as they outperform many of the Sempervivum

What a great image! I'm enthralled with the little rollers - even those on my tiny seedlings are getting dislodged already - I'm going to be inundated with rollers!

I just love the J. hirtas!! I can't wait for mine to grow up. After "Astrid" settles in I should be able to send you some Twit. I received several little "rollers" in my order.
Lynn just sent me a couple new onesssssssss!!!
I shall henceforth count you all as enablers of my collecting \"disease\".
