Will this be in the works once things kind of simmer down from the major merging? I use this site primarily to keep track of my own plant database which is now down the page past all the new (and likely very informative) stuff. It's good to show those new tabs for exploration purposes, but I am hoping eventually we can choose what to show on the home page. I'm more of a clean page person and would limit my tabs to the few things I do check on a regular basis. Likely I just need to show some patience and see how things settle out.

In fact, that is indeed in the plans.

Thank you for asking that question Deb.
And thank you Dave for what will come. Hurray!

Putting on my patience hat... I actually appreciate that all these changes (not so terrible) are happening in prime spring time when I spend most of the day outdoors. Wondering how Dave and Trish are weathering the pressures of merging two divergent websites, doing whatever they are doing behind the scenes, and still managing their rather large farm. Yikes. Kudos to a smooth transition.

As a similar question, I do not want to start a new thread for it. @Dave do you think there will ever be a way for us to get from the mobile page to the full desktop site? It is an option on a lot of pages these days, as a lot of people only use mobile devices such as tablets or even phones. I am often on my tablet and do not like getting on my computer unless I have actual work to do. I normally contribute on the go here and there. As a tablet or mobile device user, I cannot see our access a lot of the benefits of the home page. I am not worried about data usage, and would love a link in the menu or on the bottom of the page to get to the full site so that I am not limited.

That's an option here. It's in your preferences.

I didn't see it anywhere. Let me look harder! Thanks for the info! I figured I was just not seeing it, since you're so clever and mostly have everything already handled I tip my hat to you.

Even though I have had the "always show desktop version" selected in my preferences for months... and I have a high res iPad and fast internet, it does not show the same home page as my desktop computer.

I wish I could see the new database photos etc. on the home page when using the iPad. I know my iPad would capable of it. But they do not show. I had to make a shortcut to put in the left blue bar. And now, that moved further down with all the new tabs from NGA.

Dave, would it be possible to make this one of the options when you do the customizable home page (to use exactly the same set up on desktop or tablet?) or maybe make a customizable "desktop version"? With the bigger, more powerful tablets people have, others might opt to use a full desktop version (I think?).

Two of my friends no longer have "desktop" or laptop computers after recently buying larger tablets.

I think the other sites I use, when I opt to use the desktop version or full site, I see the same as I would on my regular Mac, not a compromise of stripped down cell phone and full desktop.
