One sign of Spring at my house is the Striped bark Maples now have green bark with white stripes. During the winter the bark is red with white stripes. Neat tree. Gene

Just looking at the leaves and blooms, I'd never guess it is a Maple tree. Gene

I like the bark color! I bet it shows well in the winter.

Yes, indeed. Red bark with white stripes, maybe a little snow here and there. Nice. Gene

Very unique Gene, thanks for sharing. How are the fall colors?
Striped bark Maples are uncommon in my area, I've honestly never heard of them until now. I did a quick google search and found a Acer pensylvanicum with red stripped bark called Acer pensylvanicum Erythrocladum. I may have to add this one to my garden Big Grin

I am not sure they work in your zone. Aren't most Maples only suited for further north? Gene

I wouldn't say most don't work. We have a few native maples and japanese maples in my area but you may be right with Acer pensylvanicum. Maybe the reason I haven't seen it is it's a not suited for our hot humid summers. I'll be sure to check into it though. I'd love to see the fall colors of your tree if you get a chance to share any photos this fall. Thanks for introducing me to Striped bark Maples Thumbs up

Mine are behind a fence as deer love them and I have a lot of deer. Gene
