To talk about everything for food plants and related discussions on eating, growing, and recipes.

I was wondering if anyone has ever made tomato sauce from orange or yellow tomatoes, the red are acidic and tomato sauce gives me heartburn sometimes so I thought if someone made this "sweet" tomato sauce.

It's not that popular, and my topic is slightly different.

Well, I know you certainly can make yellow sauce from yellow and orange tomatoes. I bet it tastes great and certainly would be an attention getter.

I have been really busy trying to get all my veggies and herbs planted. Really have a quite large veggie garden this year.

My veggies and herbs this year are-
Bok Choi
Sugar Snap type peas
Basil
Cilantro
Dill
Turnips
Golden Beets
Radishes
Cucumbers
Cantaloupes
Zucchini and summer squashes
Pattypan Summer Squashes
Bush Beans
Pole Beans
And an amazing amount of Tomatoes.

I planted some more eggplants today and now I am done. All my spots for eggplant are taken up. I have 31 plants. Varieties are-
Ichiban
Little Fingers
Ping Tung
Snowy
Park's Whopper
White
Italian

I am thinking I will have plenty of eggplant.

@Newyorkrita little fingers taste great and are buttery tasting when baked.

Avocados surprised me first time I had them, the inside tasted like eggs but I liked it!

Yes, I love those smaller Asian type eggplants. Prolific and tender!

I was wondering if I took a piece of bagged lettuce with part of a stem, put it in water, if I would grow roots to form a new plant?

Wow -- that's very interesting, Keith! So, a leaf of "leaf lettuce" ? Or, was it like a Romaine lettuce with the "core" ?

I pulled a leaf off with a tiny piece of core, put it in water by a sunny window and it grew roots.
