I noticed this the other day, but it seems to be spreading so I thought I would ask. I do not see any bugs, and I had thought I had the watering down. However, the leaves look like they need more water. Oy. But I don't think that's the answer, the soil feels moist. Further away, you can see this plant is growing like crazy.

Wondering if it's getting too much sun? It's in a spot that is getting more sun these days. Rolling my eyes.

Does this plant still seem picky?

Is it the pits and grooves in the leaves that concern you? That's normal for this particular Hoya (if that's what you feel may be an issue). If overwatered, they yellow and if underwatered, they yellow. She looks happy to me. Smiling

Lol. I guess it doesn't seem as picky, maybe because it has the best light spot in that room! Thank you- yes, I was concerned about the pits and grooves as I thought hoya should have full leaves. I think of the hoyas as succulents and water them as such, to avoid overwatering. At the time I posted, I thought I may have underwatered....but it seems just fine!

Some Hoyas have odd textured leaves such as yours. 'Chelsea' is another one that comes to mind. I think a lot of them have smooth leaves, but this is normal for 'Krimson Queen.' Sometimes you'll notice the green part of the leaf almost feels raised compared to the white outlining, that is normal too. :smily:

So happy to hear! I find them pretty easy to get along with too. I have 'Chelsea' and 'Tricolor.'

Oh, I like Chelsea too! The one I had difficulty with was a rooted cutting of hoya kerrii. The cutting was rather large, with 4 leaves, and it did root, but started developing a black mold underneath the leaves. I think it was too humid and not enough air circulation at the time, which has been corrected.

I've seen the kerrii parent plant at the nursery and was tempted to buy it- any experience with the sweetheart hoya?

I don't have any experience with H. kerrii sadly. It's not something I've ever seen here before, but I sure would snatch it up if I did!

I got a cutting of Sweetheart Hoya (Hoya kerrii) back in 2008 and it grew to a decent size plant but didn't bloom very often; earlier this year it began to decline but I was really busy with stuff and didn't get around to checking it out. A few weeks ago it fell out of the pot and I noticed that it appeared to have root-knot nematode. It's laying out in the wooded area behind the house and I really should see if I can salvage any of it.

Bummer! I'd cut off everything above the roots & start over.

Yep, that's what I need to do if it's still alive out there. Green Grin!

Hope you can salvage it. You are so good with your Hoya, Lin!
