I have had this in my miniature garden for three years now and still don't know what it is? Can anyone help me out? It has variegated foliage and is low growing the whole plant has stayed under 5". It is in bloom now late April however everything in my garden is 1 to 4 weeks early because we have had a very mild winter.

It's Aubrieta, could be Aubrieta ‘Doctor Mules Variegata'

A thought .. there's similar looking Phlox procumbens 'Variegata'. it could easily be that!

This plant appears to have long stems on the flowers, maybe I was right first time. Looking again, your plant does seem to have long stems.

The shape of the leaf edge is different in the Aubrieta. Both plants I would like to try. I think the phlox is a better match with its leaf edge entire.

It also has the fine darker markings at the throat of the bloom as the Phlox procumbens 'Variegata' does.

I would also say creeping phlox. There is a variegated variety called Nettleton's Variety, sor Nettleton Variation

I agree with phlox. Mine are blooming earlier than normal also.

I would agree it's Phlox - I did initially think its overall look was of Aubrieta but Aubrieta should have four petals and this has five.

I don't remember!!!!! No surprise to me, so checking everything out from all your suggestions I am going with a Phlox. The only thing that has me confused is my other creeping phlox is getting quite wide and this hasn't moved in 3 years. Picture is of my 3 year old phlox plants.

I looked up phlox procumbens and phlox subulata to compare size. Procumbens grows to about 10 inches wide and subulata grows to about 3 feet wide. So you made the right choice for a miniature garden Thumbs up

I found a picture from when I first planted it 3 years ago. The foliage hasn't move even a bit. I do remember saying to myself "Oh I'll remember the name of this and threw it away with the plastic container. Sighing!

Lovely plant! I'm a fan of phlox. Perhaps it's fragrant, from the Phlox stolonifera side of the family? I hope you don't mind, I requested that the photos be moved to the Phlox procumbens 'Variegata' page.
