I was looking at one of my Hibiscus this afternoon and noticed what you see in the photo below. As far as I can see there are 3 or 4 bud like this.

Hello Chris,

Just a guess, Japanese beetles? I have had a whole hardy hibiscus destroyed by them. They also love to munch on my knock out roses, and crape myrtles.

Thanks Angela, right now it's hard to tell as the local 'tame' deer are feasting on all my Hibiscus Grumbling . They love the buds as you can see exactly where one was and where it was nipped off at.
