Stan, most of my daylilies are growing in pots on tables so that I can move them into shade when I pollenate, and I can also move them out to my back lawn for pictures. And I use those circle stakes to make sure the scapes don't flop around and break during moves. For the black backgrounds, I have discovered that if I take a picture of a bloom in sunlight and the background is my lawn in the morning shade of the house, the background appears totally black.

Nice looking blooms yesterday and today Thumbs up Pretty image of Queen of Green, Fred. Dragonfly Tattoo and South Sea Enchantment look good too.
We get a lot of cool nights during bloom season Regina, it's such a disappointment to go out and see blooms that refuse to open well. Hopefully the nights will warm up for you soon.

Thanks, Char:)
It was really warm a few days ago (nearly 90 daytime temps and 65 at night). Today the high was only 72. Springtime in the south! Smiling

It will be plenty warm soon enough, then we'll want these temps back! No fussing from me though, as I can't imagine how cold Vermont must be in the winter...brrr.

I am enjoying getting to see some blooms after waiting through the crazy winter we've had. How much longer before daylilies begin to bloom there?

And I agree Fred, lovely bloom on Queen of Green. That's one of the ones that I recieved from the LA that looked so terrible!

Wow! I got a bloom from my G. Wild's ordered in March. Most were tiny then and are still tiny, this one no exception. It looks like a different variety than it's label, but I'm still happy that I have a bloom. I think I have to wait until next year before I can definitely say it was mis-labeled.

What was it supposed to be? A first bloom ever will often look almost nothing like what later blooms will look like and you may have to wait till next year, but you may not. How many buds are left on your plant?

This is the first bloom of the season on what is tagged Zagora, I waited all last year for this to show a bloom that actually looked like Zagora, but they never quite looked right. Maybe if I squint both eyes really tight I can see it looking more like Zagora. It is a very productive stout plant, and it has multiplied really well. I have four clumps of it next to each other. Anyone grow Zagora, does it multiply rapidly? Last year by season's end it did develop much better looking blooms.

Regina - Those first two pink bloomers are really pretty. I think I lean towards pink petals on daylilies.

Lovely blooms everyone! Wished I had 20 acres ......

This looks like something from the Harris (and later Benz) lines, more specifically, something bred from tet. Carondelet, which really stamped it's kids.

I don't think it's Joel, but the relationship is definitely there. It's so tough this time of year because none of the flowers are looking like themselves yet.

Possibilities are Gentleman Lou or Sunday Morning. Harold Harris shared seed with Trudy Petree, this could be one of her registrations, or a Harris-Petree co-registration. You should be able to narrow it down if you've ever bought something from those lines.

I have a very early scape on All Fired Up, and the two first blooms look great this morning, except the color is more brown/bronze looking than last year. This should be blooming in late June or July.

A bit behind in posting. It's daylily seedling planting time here the last few days,
and other garden work to catch up on the last few weeks.

All the flowers are beautiful, but I gotta say the photos are outstanding.
