Am I correct that only a plant already in the plant database can be added to my Plantlist? So, if that's true then I'll have to add quite a few of the plants I have to the database before I can add them to my plantlist. Have I got that right?

You may want to check out other folks' plant lists to get some ideas on how you want to use the categories, what info you might like to include, etc. The way it is set up now, if you upload a photo, that photo will become your thumbnail in your list.

Also, before you go to the trouble of trying to add your plants to the database, you might ask about them over in the Plant Database forum. They may already be there, hiding under a slightly different name.

I was wondering about that. I have a few cordylines that are not ti plants. It finally occurred to me they might be listed as New Zealand flax instead of their "proper" name. My Plantlist is getting to be a bigger project all the time. I'll fuss with it when all my planting is done and I know for sure what all I have in all those pots out there. Thanks again for your help.

They could be Cordyline australis so would still be listed in the cordyline database. If you search just using the words 'Cordyline australis', it will give you a list without the ti varieties.
