Background history:

'Ribbonette' is a diploid introduced in 1951 by Lenington-G.. No further information could be found on this hybridizer.

Ribbonette is a mid-season bitone bloomer. It earned the Honorable Mention: 2009 AHS awards. It is pod and pollen fertile with 3 registered children: http://garden.org/plants/paren...

Last week I just received a wonderful plant of RIBBONETTE from Bob Selman at Blue Ridge Daylilies and can't wait until it blooms. I just know I'm going to love it!

I found the descriptions of this plant rather puzzling, can someone explain what is meant by this:
"Color description: RL2: Red light with markting, bitone, or polychrome"

This also puzzled me. Is it a bitone or a reverse bitone? Is it sometime one and other times the other?

What size is the bloom on this plant?

mine are 3-4 inches across, not a large bloom, it got 3ft tall though for me this summer.

I received Ribbonette this Fall from Simonton Bridge and planted it in the Lower Fence Bed. It will start its garden life here with 4 fans.

I have always liked the pictures of Ribbonette and decided to take a chance on it. I received four fans from Simonton Bridge in March of 2023 as a bonus at my request.

The plant grew well and bloomed that first summer, but quickly showed itself to be a rust magnet. I offered it in my "Free Daylilies" thread this fall, and it was quickly claimed. It has a new home with Julie @Beautifulroots, who is above the rust belt. I hope it does well for her.

Here is the one picture I have of Ribbonette in my garden:
