disappeared!

hi everyone, its that time of the year again when lilies are coming up. here in the uk we currently are enjoying the first warmth of the season.

checking my lilies, most of which have surfaced, im disappointed to discover that my 'cherbourg' lilies have rotted off... well the 3 i had in rose pots (that where going to be specimens) have. other species in rose pots (7 lt) are all up now.

are cherbourg susceptible to being overly damp? my saltarello and dizzy are fine.

My Cherbourg did not last through its first winter either. Living in the Pacific Northwest of the USA our fall, winter and springs are indeed wet so I would say that it probably is susceptible to rot.

'Cherbourg' did not bode well here either with amended (with compost) heavier soil, and had proper drainage. I would say there are many orientals that have done better here and 'Dizzy' is one of them that has made it through several winters just fine too.

my dizzys are doing ok, i think ive lost some others besides cherbourg.

my fault i guess, i should have kept the rain off the pots they are in, i think i allowed them to get too wet - it was very wet here last autumn early winter.

on the plus side, i have some very large lilies coming up my eudoxia have survived well, and garden affair. (i say large because the circumference at the base is larger then last years)

Curiously, the real Cherbourg, France is known for its rain. Did anyone see

ive lost quite a few lilies, and some are still dying off, others though are thriving. reckon i let em get too wet last autumn/winter.
