Hurray, I got the flooring up in the "Orchid" greenhouse and wet the subfloor (cypress mulch) with a strong solution of outdoors Clorox. I left it overnight and then refurbished the subfloor with fresh cypress mulch. I have now pulled the fabric flooring back over the mulch, secured it and am done with that greenhouse until the fall.

Now on to the "Everything Else" greenhouse to do the same thing. Well, after a brief water/AC break. It has gotten hot in the greenhouses. Besides, my back needs a rest. It is doing a little "talking" right now.

Don't push your back, Ken....you're still healing!

Why do you have to clorox the mulch? And what is 'outdoors' clorox??

There is always fungus growing under the fabric, attached to the mulch. The bleach solution kills those spores and hopefully disinfects that mulch as well.

Rather than simply a basic ingredient, sodium hypochlorite, outdoor bleach has several ingredients that combined, produce more cleaning/disinfecting results. At least I think it does. Since Outdoor Clorox came into being, I have always used it outdoors on all kinds of hard surfaces but I also spray it on the shower tile in our master bath.

Compared to regular Clorox, Outdoor Clorox is almost like a gel. Very concentrated.

The folks that wash houses here use the outdoor stuff. I see it at HD and Lowe's. Good idea for using that in the shower Ken.

Ken, I had to smile when you mentioned the fungus on mulch. I use a lot of fresh wood chips from the tree trimmers. They drop it off for free and I keep an easement and a lot we own covered with it to keep the weeds down. The fresh chips grow all sorts of fungus's the worst being the stinkhorn mushroom. I can just imagine that in a GH. Crying

No mushrooms in my greenhouses, Alice. I thoroughly disinfect my greenhouses each spring, when everything is moved out and then again in the fall, just before everything gets moved back in. Those are basically my only two opportunities to do this. Outdoor Clorox is good for that.
