I need someone to explain to me how I go to another website and get my pictures back to my computer so that I can post them to the database here. I might have some on the DG database but I know have some on Flickr that I'd love to get back since I lost many when my old laptop crashed a couple of times (and I hadn't done backups.)

You should be able to right click and click on "Save image as" and then save it to your hard drive. I know that flickr supports that, probably every other site out there does, too.

Just be sure it is your photo and that is belongs to you before you copy it off a website.

Thanks Dave. I only want my own photo's from my Flickr account and a few that I posted to PF on DG that I lost when my laptop crashed.

Hurray! I was able to go to my Flickr account and save a few photo's to my laptop but I just tried to transfer one to the ATP database and it didn't work. I did step 1 and clicked on [choose file] and selected the photo I wanted. It showed the little icon like the photo was there so I clicked on [proceed to step 2] ... and it looks like it's downloading but then after a few seconds it takes me right back to step 1. I know it's something to do with the photo I've saved to my laptop. I get frustrated easily when it comes to technical stuff but I will play around awhile and see if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong!

... maybe this will teach me a little patience! Smiling

... and it's definitely giving me a reason to take an ice cream break! Big Grin

If you are saving the picture to your documents folder . Drag it into a pictures folder and then try sending it. Noy really a computer guy but that worked for me the other day.

I saved them to the desktop and then put them in a folder. When I go to view them, they are still showing the Flickr website nformation. I saved one that I had put in another database on another website and it's the same thing .. when I view it now on my desktop it shows all the information of the other website.

It sounds like you didn't copy down the image itself but a hyperlink or target.

You need to save the image itself.

I'm not sure how to copy just the image. I've tried a few times, clicking on the image and then copy and save to desktop but it's still doing the same thing. It's probably a simple matter to someone with a technical brain, LOL. I haven't gotten frustrated ... yet ,and will continue trying. I could blame it on MAC instead of the user. Big Grin

I'm afraid I don't know enough about macs to say. I know how to do it on my desktop but it's not a mac.

On my desktop, I right click an image and click on "Save image as..." and that saved the file (the original jpg file) to my desktop. I can then upload that file elsewhere.

I'm sorry before I wanted to say downloads folder not documents. Are you opening the picture before saving the image. I just did a couple from cubits and they worked . Maybe MAC's are different.

I save pics to the My Pictures folder, but you might not have the same folder if you're on a MAC. I think for me it's click to open image, File to Save As, choose destination in drop-down, click Save. That might be when the image is already downloaded into the software that comes with the camera, come to think of it. Confusing myself.

I have a MacBook Pro. Wouldn't you want to save it to your iPhotos files?
Or... I just copied a pic from Pinterest to my desktop... opened my Applications file and dragged it from my desktop to my "Pictures" folder in Applications (Applications is FINDER icon)

Susie: My laptop is a Macbook Pro also but I don't like IPhoto. I did use it once but found it much easier to have master folder's named Lin's Pictures, Lin's Birds etc. and I have folders within the master folder's of each of my named plants, birds and set my camera to download to those folders.

Sharon: Thanks, I just answered your t-mail.

My husband gave me instructions on how to get my photo's transferred back to my laptop from my Flickr Account so I'm going to play around now.

Thanks for the responses and suggestions!
