I was bidding on LA for some seeds, the cross in question is President Ronald Reagan and HIghland Tower. I wasn't familiar with Highland Tower so I accessed the database here and found it was a diploid so I assumed that cross was not what the seller said.
I emailed her and this is what she sent back to me:
"I bought Highland Tower directly from the hybridizer when he was still alive and it is definitely a tetraploid. I have tried to get the AHS to change the ploidy but with the hybridizer no longer alive and family not interested in doing that, it was impossible to get the change done. Highland Tower was Mr. Toll's intro and was listed in his catalog as tetraploid and it is. Every tet pollen I put on it forms pods and nice seeds. Thanks."
I asked the seller if I could send her comments to you here in an effort to correct an error and she said that it was fine with her. Is there anything you can do to correct the ploidy on Highland Tower so that our database has the right information?
Thanks,
Barb
PS: I checked the AHS database and it is still incorrect as well.
